Brent Clapacs

President, TransAlgae Holdings

Brent Clapacs has joined TransAlgae in January 2010 after a twenty-year career in Merrill Lynch. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Clapacs held management positions of increasing seniority and geographic breadth ultimately with responsibility for all facets of a diversified equity sales, trading and issuance business. Roles included leadership positions in San Francisco, Sydney, New York, Hong Kong and London. Named Managing Director in 1993. Named Head of Equities for Europe, Africa and Middle East in 2004. Named to the European Executive Committee and Merrill Lynch International Board of Directors in 2006. Promotions culminated in the role of Head of European Markets in 2008.

Mr. Clapacs graduated from Harvard University in 1985 with B.A. Cum Laude in Economics.

Prof. Jonathan Gressel

Co-Founder, Chief Scientific Officer, Board Member

Prof. Gressel earned his B.Sc. at Ohio State University and M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been on the staff of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel since then, except for sabbatical leaves at Purdue, Australian National University, USDA Bio Research Labs Fargo, in England and Iowa State. He is now a professor emeritus in plant sciences at the Weizmann.

Prof. Gressel's interest in metabolic controls, especially by anti-metabolites, led to international collaborations using transgenics. He is on the editorial board of six journals in plant/pesticide sciences and is active in international organizations in plant sciences. He is the author of over 290 scientific papers and book chapters and author, co-author, or editor of eight books dealing with these issues. His latest books are Crop Ferality and Volunteerism (2005) and Genetic Glass Ceilings – Transgenics for Crop Biodiversity (2008). His research resulted in his being co-inventor on 12 patent applications at the Weizmann, and on 10 more since co-founding TransAlgae.

In February 2010, Prof. Jonathan Gressel was nominated the winner of the Israel Prize in Agriculture, the state's highest honor award.

Maor Sasson

Co-founder, Chief Executive Officer, Board Member

Mr. Sasson is a 25-year veteran of the Israeli Special Anti-Terror Forces, reaching the position of the head of the Unconventional Terror Department. Mr. Sasson also serves as a senior consultant to the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Israeli Parliament (the “Knesset”), and has a proven record of leadership and strategic thinking in various projects in the Governmental agencies and industries.

Mr. Sasson has a B.A. in History from Ben-Gurion University, and an M.A. in International Relations, Strategy and Security studies from Tel-Aviv University.

Shai Einbinder

VP Development and Projects

Mr. Einbinder has been with TransAlgae from the day of its inception, bringing to the company a vast expertise in marine photosynthesis, algae and coral physiology, applied research and project management.

As VP Development and Projects, Mr. Einbinder is responsible for the development of growth systems, harvesting processes and pilot plant design and operation. Mr. Einbinder is a Ph.D candidate in marine biology and ecology in Hebrew University, Israel.

Mr. Einbinder is an M.Sc graduate in marine biology and ecology and a B.Sc. graduate in Biology, both from Hebrew University, Israel.

Nellya Litae

Head of Business Development

Nellya Litae has joined TransAlgae in July 2009, focusing on the company's marketing strategy and the development of global partnerships.

Prior to joining TransAlgae, Nellya worked as an analyst in Pitango Venture Capital, the leading venture capital firm in Israel. In Pitango, Nellya focused on identifying and evaluating early and growth stage investment opportunities across a wide range of technology sectors. Prior to joing Pitango, Nellya has served for five years as an economist in elite communications unit in the Israeli intelligence corps, reaching the rank of captain. During her service, Nellya was responsible for evaluating various technological and physical infrastructure projects.

Nellya holds an MBA and a B.A. in Economics and Accounting, both from Tel-Aviv University.
