Innovative aquaculture provides remarkable economic benefits to the industry. The primary benefit being that it reduces production costs due to faster turnover rates. This is accomplished through faster growth rates, decreased maintenance rates, increased energy and protein retention, and better feed efficiency. Applying such improvements to aquaculture species will increase productivity to meet the increasing demands of growing populations.
AlBoost™
TransAlgae’s Enhanced Algae, AlBoost™, has been scientifically designed to boost growth through oral application. We have replaced the need for costly techniques, specifically injections. Harnessing the natural ability of aquatic organisms to quickly grow during their early life stages, and embedding this ability into AlBoost™, will allow for the accelerated growth rate of a wide range of fish. Using AlBoost™ will facilitate this accelerated growth and can be applied not only during the early stages of development, but also at later life stages.
AlBoost™ has been tested and analyzed at the Agricultural Research Organization (“ARO”). Preliminary results have demonstrated that AlBoost™ is safe for fish. Growth performance experiments were conducted at the ARO’s laboratories on Angel Fish (Pterophyllum scalare), and produced positive results. Fish fed with AlBoost™ acheived a significant biomass increase of 6%. Once implementation methodologies are perfected, these increases in biomass are expected to be even greater.
