Currently, protein based API’s (vaccines, insulin ect.) cannot be administered orally due to protein degradation along the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, injections have become industry standard. But injections require skilled manpower, complex supply chains and are painful to the patient.

Our patented microalgae platform serves as both an expression system and as a native bio-encapsulation vehicle for the oral delivery of protein API’s.  Initial trials in mice have demonstrated intact, functional delivery to the blood. We are leveraging our breakthrough platform to replace human injectables with algae-based oral delivery.
